Stonefield edge scoops triple shortlisting at 2020 planning awards

StonefieldE

Our Partnerships West Midlands development, Stonefield Edge, has been shortlisted in three highly-sought categories in the 2020 Planning Awards.

Part of the ambitious Bilston Urban Village regeneration scheme in Wolverhampton, Countryside is now in the running for three prestigious awards:

  • Best use of publicly-owned land and/or property in placemaking
  • Best use of brownfield land in placemaking
  • Award for regeneration

Forming part of an exciting multi-million pound regeneration, Stonefield Edge takes pride of place at the heart of Bilston’s new Urban Village, a scheme which boasts a stunning varied mix of residential, leisure and retail units.

Setting the bar for further regeneration, Wolverhampton Council took the bold decision to regenerate this brownfield land, where disused factories and an old railway embankment once sat, in order to provide much-needed affordable urban living for hundreds of families. Through early open dialogue, both the Council and local residents were confident in our placemaking abilities and regeneration track record. We shared the vision that Stonefield Edge was designed to play a crucial role in the area’s transformation, whilst increasing employment and training opportunities for local people.

Offering a range of property types and tenures, Stonefield Edge will provide 500 high quality family homes, resulting in £2.1m of investment into core local services such as education, traffic regulations and public open space.

In addition to our high quality design, our Garden City-accredited scheme will also preserve the surrounding green space by incorporating the canal and existing woodland into the layout, as well as ensuring biodiversity enhancements.

This triple shortlisting is a testament to what can be achieved through strong partnerships between homebuilders, local authorities, PRS providers and housing associations. We look forward to joining our fellow industry professionals Thursday 24th September at the Planning Awards to celebrate the outstanding achievements made within the region and beyond.
