Stamp Duty Savings for First Time Buyers in Kent

Thanks to the Chancellor’s announcement in the Budget, all first-time buyers will now be exempt from paying stamp duty on homes priced £300,000 or less, as well as being abolished on the first £300,000 on homes worth up to £500,000.

For home buyers keen to get on the housing ladder in Kent, Countryside offers a range of developments across the county in popular areas including Chatham, Ebbsfleet and Hawkhurst, all of which come under the new stamp duty thresholds for first-time buyers.

Offering first-time buyers further assistance in order to become home owners, many of Countryside’s Kent developments also offer the Help to Buy scheme. The Government lends up to 20 percent of the cost of the purchasers’ newly built home up to £600,000, meaning only a five percent cash deposit and 75 percent mortgage is required to make up the rest. Purchasers are also not charged loan fees on the 20 percent loan within the first five years of owning the home.

Iain McPherson, Managing Director of Countryside’s New Homes and Communities South region comments: “The news that stamp duty will be abolished on all homes under £300,000 and only payable on £200,000 of any homes priced up to £500,000, is very welcome news to first time buyers and at Countryside we offer a number of developments across Kent which are ideal to take advantage of these savings.  With the added assistance of the Help to Buy Scheme, buyers will be able to receive the support they need to take a step onto the housing ladder.”
