Partners celebrate 130 new affordable homes and new show homes at Belle Vue Place

Countryside, the UK’s leading mixed-tenure developer, and partner Great Places Housing Group, one of the largest housing associations in the North, were joined by Councillor Gavin White, Executive Member for Housing and Development at Manchester City Council last week (Thursday 10 November) to celebrate 130 much needed affordable homes and the opening of show homes at Belle Vue Place.
Built on the former greyhound and speedway tracks, Belle Vue Place forms part of an area undergoing exciting regeneration. With excellent transport links, easy accessibility into Manchester city centre and the beautiful Debdale Park and reservoirs on the doorstep, it offers a fantastic location for people from all walks of life.
Of the stunning collection of 277 new homes, 117 are available on the open market, and 130 are divided between 89 for social rent, 12 Manchester Living Rent homes and 29 for shared ownership. Countryside’s blind tenure approach means that all the properties are designed and finished to the highest standard.
Joe Turner, Managing Director, Manchester and Cheshire East, Countryside said: “Countryside has a strong record of working with a range of partners to deliver housing to regenerate areas and create communities to meet the demands of local areas.” “We are pleased to be partnering with Great Places across a selection of our Manchester sites, working in collaboration to provide much needed affordable homes and as a result, creating places people love to live.”
Helen Spencer, Executive Director of Growth at Great Places, added: “We’re delighted to have shown Councillor White around our new homes at Belle Vue Place, a new community that will provide 130 much needed affordable homes in an area of Manchester that so desperately needs them.
“Affordable housing continues to be a key priority in all of the areas we operate in, and Countryside shares our commitment to creating great homes across a wide variety of communities. Our partnership to date has allowed us to deliver 500 affordable homes to sites across Greater Manchester, from here in Gorton, Manchester to Chadderton in Oldham, Castleton in Rochdale, Partington in Trafford and Leigh.
“Our achievements to date highlight the importance and power of these partnerships, and we look forward to future partnership work allowing us to deliver further affordable homes across Greater Manchester.”
Councillor Gavin White, Executive Member for Housing and Development at Manchester City Council said: “Our focus in Manchester is to increase the number of genuinely affordable, high-quality homes available to our residents – and we have committed to supporting the delivery of 10,000 affordable homes over the next decade. The new homes at Belle Vue are a welcome addition to our affordable housing market and take us ever closer to our ambitious target, while also bringing brownfield land back into active use.”
This thriving partnership is providing over 500 much needed affordable homes to help meet the demand of local communities across the region.
The sites include:
• Belle Vue Place, Manchester – 130 affordable homes (89 social rent, 12 Manchester Living Rent homes, and 29 for shared ownership)
• Millbank Lock, Partington – 117 affordable homes
• Calico Grove, Rochdale – 102 affordable homes
• North Leigh Park, Leigh – 87 affordable homes
• Radclyffe Gardens, Chadderton - 82 affordable homes

As well as over 500 affordable homes, these sites also include a total of over 600 homes available on the open market and hundreds of homes for private rent, meaning Greater Manchester is benefiting from a whole market offer.
