Countryside raises money for children’s hospice charity, Demelza Hospice Care for Children at annual golf fundraiser

Demelza Golf Day 2022

On 29th June, our Southern Home Counties region hosted its annual charity golf day at Westerham Golf Club in Westerham, Kent, bringing together its subcontractors and contacts from across its network to raise money for children’s hospice charity, Demelza.

Through team participation on the day, a raffle and auction, and the opportunity to sponsor a hole on the course, those involved raised a total of £10,785 for Demelza. The funds will help support the vital work the charity does in providing clinical care, therapies, specialised activities and practical support across Kent, south-east London and East Sussex, for children with serious or terminal conditions, and their families.

A series of challenges added an element of competition to the day, with winners including Andrew Younger from Keylon for the nearest pin and Adil Butt from ROK Kitchens for the longest drive. Meanwhile, Johns Holdsworth from Viking Scaffolding took the top spot overall.

The fundraiser for Demelza – which is the chosen local charity for our Southern Home Counties region this year – marks the latest in a series of activities and initiatives, which have also included auctions and dress down days. The charity was also a recipient of our Countryside Communities Fund in 2020 and 2021, an initiative set up in response to the Covid-19 pandemic to support local charities and groups, food banks and others providing essential local services in locations in which we operate across the country.
