Countryside cooks up a celebration with three residents’ barbecues

Countryside recently brought the community together at Acton Gardens, Brook Valley Gardens and New Avenue, with three barbecues hosted for residents to celebrate progress made at each development.

At Brook Valley Gardens in Chipping Barnet the barbecue was held to welcome the new residents of the development’s latest phase. Attended by the resident steering group, volunteers from the Brook Valley Gardens community centre, Barnet Council, L&Q, and Countryside, the event gave the project team a chance to meet residents old and new, whilst giving the new arrivals a chance to get to know their neighbours.

In Oakwood, at our New Avenue development, the local community gathered to enjoy fantastic food and drink, and to mingle with the local community. They also had the opportunity to have their questions answered by the project team and see for themselves the progress being made on site.

The Acton Gardens event came at a time of great excitement for the development, following the successful opening of the new community and youth centres. The event was held on the summer solstice – the longest day of the year. In addition to being treated to a delicious barbecue, the residents were kept entertained by face painters, a balloon modeller and magician. There was an arts & crafts room, where children were shown how to make paper-flower headdresses, and even a nail technician!

We would like to thank everyone who came along to these events and are looking forward to seeing you all again next year!
