Black History Month - in conversation Amos Simbo
What does building an inclusive environment mean?
- being who you are without feeling you have to be someone you’re not in order to fit in and belong
- feeling safe and comfortable to have a voice and share different views/ideas/feelings/beliefs to the majority
- feeling treated fairly and equally regardless of difference
- being accepted, valued and respected for uniqueness
As we celebrate Black History Month, for the first time at Countryside, it is important for everyone to know the significance of this celebration. This month celebrates the fundamental role played by people of African and Caribbean descents in shaping the British history which is often overlooked, ignored, or even distorted by many.
To mark black history month, our Head of Culture and Inclusion, Anita Cunningham caught up with Amos Simbo, Founder of Black Professionals in Construction (BPIC) Network to discuss the importance of recognising and accepting differences in the workplace.
