Berrymede Junior School put the finishing touches to Acton Gardens, West Park

The school children of Berrymede Junior School, which is located within one of the largest regeneration schemes in West London, assisted Countryside and L&Q in the opening of their latest milestone, West Park. West Park is a communal garden and play area at the heart of Acton Gardens.
Designed in consultation with local residents, this park provides an open space that includes a new adventure trail and play facilities, together with an outdoor gym and communal garden for all to enjoy. The park is part of over 4.69 hectares of open spaces being created at Acton Gardens, with 1.85 hectares dedicated to play spaces, making a positive contribution to health and wellbeing in the local area.
Mike Woolliscroft, Managing Director for Partnerships South (West London), Countryside, said: “We are committed to building fantastic places to live and visit. Our focus isn’t just on the homes that we create, it is also on the parks, streets and other amenities that make places people love. At Acton Gardens we’re delivering three new public parks and West Park is the first of these to be completed. This attractive new space incorporates the best of traditional London parks as well as a great children’s play area and outdoor gym.
“I think it is particularly fitting that children from Berrymede Junior School put the finishing touches to the new park. Berrymede School is in the heart of the Acton Gardens development area and a major component of the local community. The planting formed part of our week of school visits aimed at introducing children of all ages to opportunities in construction; hopefully inspiring the next generation of builders, carpenters, architects and more.”
Lubna Khan, Headteacher at Berrymede Junior School, said: “It is absolutely crucial for both their physical and mental health that children are given the space to play, and high-quality green spaces and play areas like West Park certainly meet this goal. I’m sure our pupils will love playing here for years to come.”
Expected for completion in 2026, Acton Gardens is one of the largest regeneration schemes in West London. An ambitious £600m project being delivered by Countryside and L&Q, Acton Gardens is creating 2,800 brand new homes and new community facilities over 52 acres. The development is forming a new community in Acton, designed to connect to surrounding neighbourhoods through a network of new walking routes.
