Acton Gardens selected as Finalist for 'Outstanding Approach to Regeneration' at UK Housing Awards
Acton Gardens, the major regeneration of the South Acton Estate in West London by Countryside and L&Q, has been announced as a finalist for the ‘Outstanding Approach to Regeneration’ category at the UK Housing Awards.
Recognised as an example of best practice in the government’s ‘Estate Regeneration National Strategy’ (2016), Acton Gardens is transforming the architecture, fortunes and reputation of South Acton, whilst retaining the strong community spirit; replacing 1,800 life expired homes with 2,800 high quality homes, of which 50% will be affordable, between 2011 and 2026.
The UK Housing Awards, run by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing, are billed as the most prestigious awards in the housing sector, and showcase the very best the housing sector has to offer. The winners will be announced at a glittering award ceremony held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge on Wednesday 2 May 2018.
Mike Woolliscroft, Managing Director for West London at Countryside Partnerships South, said: “This shortlisting is further endorsement of the unique approach we are taking to regeneration at Acton Gardens; a multi-phased masterplan, engaging with the community to an unprecedented degree, making substantial investments in community facilities and providing a step change in quality to the homes and social infrastructure of the area.
“Our responsible approach to regeneration, putting residents and local communities first, continues to be recognised and we’re all looking forward to the results in May.”
