Turning first-time buyer dreams into reality at Beam Park
Khrystyna, 39, bought her first home in November 2022 at Beam Park in Rainham, Essex; a one-bedroom apartment in the latest phase at the regeneration scheme, Portland House.

Khrystyna, working in operations in central London, never thought owning an apartment in London would be possible. However, with the help of Countryside’s expert sales team and an independent financial advisor, Khrystyna’s dream became a reality as she took her first step onto the property ladder.

Khrystyna was assisted throughout her purchase by Countryside’s sales progressor, Deseree, who worked to ensure her journey was as pleasant and stress free as possible. Every customer is assigned a dedicated sales progressor, who will guide them through the whole home buying process from the initial introduction call all the way to legal completion.

Following the rise in UK mortgage rates, the apartment Khrystyna originally selected soon became out of budget. However, the Beam Park sales team found her a new home, that fit the desired requirements whilst working within budget.

We caught up with Khrystyna to hear her story:

Making Khrystyna’s dream her reality

Khyrstyna, originally from Ukraine, never considered that she might be able to buy a property in London and so had been renting in numerous shared properties in Finsbury Park and Canary Wharf since moving to the capital.

“I never thought that I’d be able to afford to buy an apartment in London, however after years of flat shares I started to feel the need for my own space. One day my co-worker, who lives in the area, told me about Beam Park and suggested I have a look into it. When I made the plan to visit the marketing suite, I never planned to buy anything as I thought it was out of the question” Khrystyna tells us.

“After being shown around the marketing suite, the sales team mentioned that a financial advisor was there and available to speak to me. After a meeting with them and going through my salary and expenses, I found out that I would be able to afford to buy a home of my own”.

Khrystyna was assisted throughout the buying process by an independent financial advisor, a third-party firm that works with Countryside and understands new-build transactions.

The strong working relationship with financial advisors and solicitors meant Countryside was able to take away the stress of home buying for Khrystyna.

Finding the perfect plot

“My experience with the Countryside team was faultless. As a first-time buyer, they went above and beyond to make the buying process as easy as possible and I felt supported every step of the way. The original home I selected became out of budget when the interest rates shot up at the end of 2022, and I thought the prospect of owning a home was slipping through my fingers”, Khrystyna told us.

“Deseree and the Countryside team swiftly changed that and found me the perfect plot, within budget. I now live on the 10th floor, with amazing views of London and a big balcony which I can’t wait to use more in the summer months. My apartment is also quiet and gets a lot of natural light, which I didn’t expect to be possible in a London home, and the configuration of open plan living room and kitchen is perfect. I think I ended up preferring this apartment to the first apartment I chose!”

The benefits of buying new

Another element that attracted Khrystyna to Beam Park was the savings she was able to make from buying new.

“I always thought a new property would be more costly than an old but everything has worked out cheaper. To start with, my home came fully equipped with built-in appliances that I’d usually have to buy, like a washing machine, oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. Even the carpeting and flooring was included so there was minimal DIY. There are also two big built-in airing cupboards which are great for storage. I also have the reassurance that because everything is new, I don’t have to worry about things breaking and needing to replace them, which will save me money in the long-term”.

Given the recent economic climate, Khrystyna was also pleased to find her bills have reduced, despite now living on her own. She says “What’s really been a pleasant surprise is how warm and cosy my apartment has been. It retains heat really well, so I’ve barely had to put the heating on, which has been a valuable respite given the cost-of-living crisis and this cold winter”.

Finally, Khrystyna highlighted her excitement towards watching the development evolve and touched on the benefits of buying early in a regeneration scheme.

“It’s exciting to watch the development grow. Beam Park is already a community and everyone is so friendly, but there is more popping up too. A nursery recently opened and a convenience store and coffee shop are planned on the ground floor of my building too, which will be so convenient,” Khrystyna commented.
