South Oxhey Central's site manager has been recognised by the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards for a second year in a row.

Plamen Ivanov, a construction site manager at South Oxhey Central, the £218m town centre development scheme being delivered by Countryside, in partnership with Home Group and Three Rivers District Council, has been awarded a Seal of Excellence at the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards 2020 in recognition of the high standards of construction at Phase 2 of the development.

In a virtual awards ceremony, Plamen was selected as one of 14 recipients of the Seal of Excellence in the Central region, out of a total of 11,000 site managers entered into the national awards from across the country. Plamen, who lives in nearby Bushey, and his team also received a Quality Award from the NHBC in July for the second year in a row, having been recognised for their work on Phase 1A of the development last year.

Phase 2 of the development is now almost fully complete, with all but one of the new retailers open, alongside a new market square. Progress has also been swift on the 174 new homes in the second phase, with the first private apartments completed in September, following the 48 affordable home completions at the start of the year.

Daniel King, Managing Director, Partnerships West London and Thames Valley, Countryside, said: “Having already received the Quality Award earlier this year, we’re proud that Plamen and his team have gone one better and received the prestigious Seal of Excellence from the NHBC.

"This is the second year in a row that Plamen has been recognised out of 11,000 site managers across the country, testament to his continued pursuit of construction excellence. We’re committed to the highest standard of construction at South Oxhey Central, and dedicated to maintaining this as we look towards the start of construction on Phase 3 early next year.”

Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, added: “Many congratulations to Plamen and his team for their exceptional achievement. We’re committed to delivering top quality homes for our residents, so it’s great to know we are in safe hands. We look forward to the completion of Phase 2 of the development which is helping to transform this area of South Oxhey.”

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Pride in the Job Awards is one of the most highly regarded competitions in the housebuilding industry, celebrating Site Managers who demonstrate excellence and commitment to producing homes of outstanding quality. Employees working on sites registered for an NHBC warranty are automatically entered into this competition and are judged over the course of 12 months.

When fully complete, South Oxhey Central will consist of a total of 659 new homes and in excess of 55,000 sq ft of commercial space, set across two acres of landscaped public spaces. 188 new homes have been delivered to date at South Oxhey Central, comprising 96 homes for social rent and 21 homes for shared ownership, with 71 private homes.
