Rochester Riverside Residents enjoy Coronation celebrations in the new Furrell’s Park

Coronation Big Lunch

Sunday 7th May, Rochester Riverside – Residents at Rochester Riverside, the £419m regeneration scheme being delivered by JV partners Countryside Partnerships and the Hyde Group, hosted a picnic in the new Furrell’s Park on Sunday 7th May to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty the King.

A picnic was hosted at Furrell’s Park, the new outdoor space delivered as part of phase 3 of the development, with residents invited to join in the celebrations. The new waterside park at Rochester Riverside was officially opened in March 2023, so the King’s Coronation was a great opportunity to invite residents to an event to enjoy the new green space together.

A member of the Countryside team was on hand to welcome the residents into the park and following this, guests were provided with a variety of organised lawn games in which to participate. These games included Croquet, giant Jenga, giant Draughts and Child Archery. Residents were also able to enjoy a bar serving Prosecco, Aperol Spritz, Pimms and Beers, alongside a van offering soft drinks. Residents were also given the opportunity to enjoy a free drink and ice cream from the various venders Countryside provided for the event.

The delivery of Furrell’s Park is a key milestone for Rochester Riverside as the scheme moves closer to completing the 500th home on site. Reaching this stage marks the completion of a third of the total development which includes both the delivery of high-quality new homes as well as the range of health and wellbeing amenities on offer at the 1,400-home scheme.

This milestone follows the completion of Phases 1 and 2 of the regeneration scheme in September last year, delivering 331 new homes along with a hotel, food store and coffee shop. Phase 3 is currently underway and, once complete will deliver 171 new homes and new public areas around the famous dockside Blue Crane, with residents already moved in. Most recently, the JV partners had their planning application approved for Phase 7 of the scheme, paving the way for the creation of a further 154 homes.

At Rochester Riverside, Countryside Partnerships and Hyde are delivering a new mixed-tenure community of up to 1,400 new homes with a primary school, nursery, as well as a hotel, commercial units, open green spaces, and landscaping over 12 years, delivering much needed mixed-tenure homes for the local community.

Danny Wood, Managing Director, Countryside Partnerships Home Counties South said: “At Countryside Partnerships, we work hard to create lasting communities, where people love to live. We are proud of what we have delivered at Rochester Riverside and it is great to be creating memorable events at the new open space at Furrell’s Park for those living here. We had a fantastic turn out on the day and we’d like to thank all of our team members and residents who attended for helping to create such an enjoyable Coronation celebration at Rochester Riverside.”
