Retired teacher becomes the 50th resident at Countryside’s Wolsey Park development, after discovering his dream home in Essex

Wolsey Park - Geoff Saville case study

Having lived on the outskirts of Essex his entire life, recently retired Geoff Saville, decided he wanted to move further into the Essex countryside to enjoy a more rural lifestyle. Having researched a number of housebuilders, the former special needs teacher set his heart on a Countryside property. Beginning his search in 2020, Geoff discovered Countryside’s traditionally- styled collection of houses at Wolsey Park in Rayleigh, and went on to become the 50th resident to move in at the popular development in Essex.

Geoff says: “I specifically wanted a Countryside property because they had been recommended by a friend, and having researched similar properties very thoroughly, I found them to offer the best value and quality of houses out of all the main housebuilders. This is my third new build home and when I was searching, I found the size of the rooms were more generous than other houses available on the market and the open-plan layouts were well thought through and impressively designed.”

After discovering Wolsey Park one morning, Geoff immediately phoned the sales team to visit the site.  By that afternoon, he had secured his dream home -The Laurel, a three-bedroom terrace house with a south-facing garden.

Geoff continues: “I’d been looking for a three-bedroom house in Essex and saw online that there was one in my price range at Wolsey Park - I just thought ‘wow’. The lady at the sales office booked me an appointment that morning and by 2pm I had put down a deposit.”

“I bought my home off-plan, but there was a model of the site so I felt re-assured that I had a very good idea of what my house would be like. I was surprised how large the garden was – plus it was south-facing which was a bonus. I knew it would sell very quickly if I didn’t buy it.”

With his family all living on the outskirts of Essex, excellent travel connections were an important factor for Geoff. Wolsey Park ticked all the boxes, conveniently positioned close to the A127 and A130, with a number of towns and the motorway network all within easy reach.

Geoff adds: ‘My children live in Ilford, so as much as I wanted to move further into the Essex countryside, I also wanted to be able to visit my family regularly. I now live a 30 to 40-minute drive from them which is very manageable.”

Despite knowing the surrounding areas of Essex, Geoff had no prior knowledge of Rayleigh where his new home is situated.

“I didn’t know anything about Rayleigh, but it is a lovely area.  I have found it is home to a lovely market town and I have discovered a fantastic selection of cafes, restaurants and small independent shops. There are also retail parks nearby, so you are within easy reach to a good selection of shops.”

Set amongst green open spaces and parkland, Wolsey Park boasts the perfect setting for new homes, with the gently undulating landscape offering breath-taking views of the Essex countryside and beyond.

“I love having a range of scenic countryside walks on the doorstep and it’s clear there has been careful consideration for inclusion of greenspace within the development. It’s a beautiful place to live and everyone is very friendly - there’s a great sense of community here.”

When asked about his customer experience, Geoff had nothing but praise for the Countryside team.

“All the staff at Countryside were so attentive. I was kept very well informed at each stage of the building process and was able to view my property before completion.  From the moment I viewed the property to today, everyone has been excellent, and I cannot praise them enough.”

Wolsey Park offers a traditional collection of stylish two, three, four and five-bedroom houses on the western fringe of the market town of Rayleigh. New green open spaces and parkland provide the perfect setting for new homes with areas for sport and recreation. To find out more, visit:
