A home that offers the best of both worlds

When first-time buyer Jamie Monk (26 years old, Foreign Exchange Broker), set foot on Oaklands Hamlet for the first time, he knew that he was in a special place. The first thing that struck him, as he left London behind and entered the development’s tree-lined landscaped avenues, was how peaceful it felt while still being relatively close and well-connected to the City.

Prior to purchasing his one-bedroom apartment in Chigwell, Essex, Jamie lived in his family home in Clayhall - a district in the London Borough of Redbridge. However, he recently decided it was high time to step onto the property ladder.

Recalling the first things he noticed upon entering Oaklands Hamlet, Jamie says: “The first thing that struck me upon entering the development was the beautifully landscaped entrance and upon walking through it, the many green open spaces that surrounded the stylish homes. Everything looked very well maintained and I noticed how calm the roads were; a far cry from where I work in London at Canary Wharf. I could definitely see myself making a home here and benefit from still being conveniently close to London.”

Boasting an impressive 53 acres, half of which is dedicated to open green spaces, Oaklands Hamlet benefits from an idyllic setting with an unrivalled environment. There are two country parks, a bandstand, cycleway and bridleway. Ponds provide a thriving habitat for wildlife, and there is also an attractive village green – the perfect environment to enjoy a Sunday afternoon stroll with family and friends. If you look beyond the surrounding countryside, you will see open fields, woodland and two perfectly groomed golf courses.

Jamie continues: “Upon entering the apartment, I immediately noticed the interior design and specifications were excellent. I also liked the fact that the kitchen and living room area was open-plan, which created a real sense of space. The kitchen had integrated appliances, and all of these were linked to well known brands. I also liked that the bathroom was of a good size for a one-bedroom apartment. Overall, the apartment felt charming and had character. It didn’t take long at all for me to see myself living there.”

All homes at Oaklands Hamlet feature exceptional quality as standard. Beautifully designed interiors and natural, timeless décor create a calming backdrop. Residents will find classic layouts in the interior with sleek bathrooms and well-appointed contemporary kitchens. Community living is another benefit that Oaklands Hamlet’s residents can expect to benefit from. In Jamie’s case, he was pleasantly surprised to see that the apartment next door belonged to a girl he grew up with.

Jamie purchased his new home with London Help to Buy. Through this scheme, buyers are able to purchase a home in Oaklands Hamlet with as little as 5% of the home’s deposit and a mortgage for up to 55% of the home’s value. The Government then provides an equity loan of up to 40% of the property’s value, which is interest free for the first 5 years.

Jamie also highlights the excellent customer service and flexibility that Countryside offered, which were “massively helpful” and an important part what made him decide to purchase his apartment on Oaklands Hamlet.

Jamie says: “The customer service representatives, Jason and Karen, were committed from the very beginning to make whole buying process simple and painless. They offered guidance on the legal process involved with buying the home and also asked me whether I needed assistance in arranging mortgage finance through independent financial consultants. Their flexibility, along with Countryside’s well established brand, made the difference when it came to deciding to purchase my apartment here.”

Oaklands Hamlet also benefits from excellent proximity to transport connections, making it easy to reach while providing links to local towns and further afield. Hainault tube station on the Central line connects to central London, the wider underground network and mainline train stations. Chadwell Heath mainline station, just 3.5 miles away, is also set to benefit from Crossrail, providing even faster and more direct connections to the city and beyond. For national and international air travel, Stansted Airport is within a 40-minute drive via the M11.

Commenting on this, Jamie says: “It really felt like I was getting the best of both worlds with Oaklands Hamlet. I liked the idea of being surrounded by beautiful parkland and greenery while still being close and well-connected to London.”
