The great outdoors is closer than you think: East Midlands

Looking to enjoy the great outdoors this summer? For Tessa and Wayne Goodhead, residents at Countryside’s Harvest Grove development on the outskirts of Featherstone near Wolverhampton, the joys of country living are never far away.

Having recently secured their dream four-bedroom detached home at the development, the couple are making the most of the array of walks on their doorstep. With a network of pathways leading off Harvest Grove, it’s easy to spend hours at a time exploring the surrounding rolling fields and countryside.

Tessa and Wayne moved from a two-bedroom property and are looking forward to making the most of the extra space, the majority of which will be occupied by their three dogs, who are loving the new walks they are going on. And in the recent hot weather, dips in Lower Pool Lake are a particular favourite by all accounts!

Of course, while a rural existence is a dream for many, it’s not always practical. Although the couple love the fact that the development is set amongst vast greenery, they also make the most of the close proximity to Wolverhampton and Birmingham. Whether that is a day shopping at the Bullring in Birmingham or an afternoon exploring the grounds of Wightwick Manor, there really is something for everyone.

Harvest Grove is not unique in its versatility. Homes with a green outlook but easy access to bustling towns and cities is a characteristic of Countryside developments across the region.

The Fletton Folly development near historic Peterborough, with its shops, bistros and excellent transport links, also borders open fields and meadows, with footpaths on the doorstep perfect for a quiet stroll or a bike ride. Likewise, Swan Grange is situated near the thriving city of Lincoln and on its fringes has an abundance of green space and access to the area’s many canals.
