First Time Buyer finally makes the move from renting to secure her perfect home.

Having rented in East London for 8 years, Eva (33) decided it was time to step onto the property ladder and secure a property of her own. Seeking a home that offered a vibrant London lifestyle, she began her extensive search online. After looking at homes available in north London, she came across an advertisement for apartments at Feature17, Countryside’s popular development in the creative hub of Walthamstow, and shortly after secured her dream one-bedroom apartment.
With it’s unique identity within north London, Walthamstow is known for its ‘village’ like feel. Featuring beautiful, cobbled streets, peppered with independent shops, coffee shops and lively bars, this thriving pocket of London is becoming increasingly popular with buyers.
Eva says: “I’ve moved 14 times in 12 years which is tiring! I felt it was time to find a more permanent home of my own. Initially I looked at homes available in and around Hackney but when I came across Walthamstow, it seemed almost like an extension of Hackney - there are so many interesting and unique places to explore here and there’s a number of independent coffee shops and craft breweries on my doorstep.”
When searching for her first home, Eva was looking for a well-designed property located within a friendly neighbourhood that offered excellent transport links. Located just a short walk from Wood Street station, residents at Feature17 benefit from regular trains to Liverpool Street Station in 20 minutes.
Eva says “I wanted a home that was close to a station where I could easily access other parts of London, whilst being in an area that felt safe. That’s one of the main things that drew me to Feature17, I really like the community feel of Walthamstow as well as the development itself and living on my own I have really noticed how friendly and willing to help everyone is.”
When it came to the property itself, Eva had her sights set on a new build home.
Eva adds: ‘The last two apartments I rented were new builds and I personally prefer them. I like having the warranty and peace of mind. I also think new builds are better for insulation - older houses I always find are very cold.”
Impressed with the careful design of the homes at Feature17, Eva couldn’t help but imagine her life there.
Eva continues: “I spent a long time looking at homes online and I looked at a number of properties in person, but they all had strangely shaped rooms and their designs weren’t logical. When I came to visit Feature17, I could immediately imagine myself living here, it just felt like home. I went home and thought ‘that’s the one’ and I then secured my first home within a couple of weeks.
Now I’ve moved in, the first few months have been great. I’ve taken my time furnishing my home and choosing the perfect pieces. I love the open plan kitchen and living room and the amount of natural light here is a real treat. To have dual aspect is very rare for a new build and the balcony I have for the size of my flat is enormous! I’m really enjoying the hot weather too, all that’s left to buy is a nice swing chair for the balcony, so I can sit and enjoy the long summer evenings.”
Buying new also meant Eva could take advantage of the government backed Help to Buy scheme.
“Help to Buy made buying here affordable for me so my search focused on places that were eligible with Help to Buy. I am so happy I could afford such a spacious home with the specification and detailing of this calibre, especially with the outdoor space too.”
Feature17 will deliver an on-site Co-op supermarket, multi-use games area and thoughtfully designed landscaping providing open spaces and green parks.
