Family move out of London to take advantage of Essex’s fantastic educational offering
Having lived in Barkingside in East London for eight years, dance teacher and former NHS worker, Rakhi, and her husband, Mohit, an IT Consultant, decided they wanted to upgrade from their three-bedroom home and move into Essex for their daughters’ education. After a friend showed them around Beaulieu, the couple decided it was the ideal place to re-locate and they ended up buying a four-bedroom home, The Laurenson, at Beaulieu Heath, part of Countryside’s flagship scheme in Chelmsford.
Rakhi says: “Our daughter was accepted into Colchester County High School for Girls, so we needed to live somewhere nearby. When we went to look around Beaulieu we fell in love with the village-like feel and, with its fantastic transport links into the city, we knew it was the place we wanted to call home.”
Impressed with the design and sense of community within the development, Rakhi and Mohit decided Beaulieu was perfectly suited to their lifestyle and finally somewhere they could raise their much longed-for dog, Leo.
Rakhi says: “We loved the look of the development, especially when you enter it, it feels very grand with the wide roads and greenery everywhere. We had always planned to get a dog, so we needed somewhere that offered space and where we could go for long walks.”
“Another factor was looking for a home where it would be easy to make friends. Beaulieu has such a fantastic multi-cultural and welcoming community. It’s great for families as there are a lot of events for residents which are organised at various points in the year, including Halloween and Christmas.”
Having previously looked at a range of properties in the area, Rakhi and Mohit decided a new build home would be best for their lifestyle. Opting for a stylish four-bedroom house, the couple knew they could make their home their own.
Rakhi says: “We were open to both new builds and older homes - for us, space was a priority. We noticed all four of the bedrooms at the homes we viewed were generous and there was a good living area too! My favourite part of our new home is the first floor over the garage – it’s a big family room and helps to keep downstairs clean for guests.”
Built with energy-saving features included as standard, homes at Beaulieu Heath are helping to mitigate the adverse effects on the environment as well as reducing energy costs.
“The modern concept suited us better - with a blank canvas we were able to add our own style to our new home. What’s more, with energy costs rising, new build homes are much more energy efficient which is reassuring for us when it comes to looking at how we will manage the energy bills.”
