Downsizer finds dream waterside apartment at Azure

After living in a three story townhouse in Gravesend, north west Kent, for 15 years, Events Management professional, Sharon decided it was time to downsize.

With her mother moving in with her in early 2021, recognising the practicality and benefits of lateral living, Sharon discovered Azure, Countryside’s major regeneration project on St Mary’s Island, where she secured her beautiful three-bedroom waterside apartment.  

Sharon says: “My new home is perfect as it’s easily accessible, not only for my mum, but also for me. I wanted a future-proof home and to live somewhere that was low maintenance; where I can see myself staying for the long-term.

I plan on spending more winters in Florida and living here now means I have much more flexibility – I like the security of living in an apartment, and there’s an on-site maintenance team who are always happy to help, plus, I now have two balconies, rather than a garden, so I don’t have to worry about looking after that either – it ticks every box”.

With a number of friends now living on the Island, Sharon originally discovered Azure through family who have been living on the island for 15 years.

Sharon adds: “After visiting the island to see some friends of mine, I saw Countryside were building a new phase of apartments. I was immediately drawn to them and decided to take a look. I saw they had apartments with double garages for sale and I enquired straight away – it’s so hard to find an apartment that also has fantastic additional storage.”

After over 25 years in the making, the 150-acre neighbourhood features a mix of 1,700 apartments and houses in total, offering properties to suit a range of lifestyles. Boasting a unique waterside lifestyle, Azure is in its final phase, making this the last time to buy on the island. Calling Azure home since August 2021, her new property enjoys views out to both west and east of the island with balconies on either end of her apartment.

I absolutely love being by the water, but beyond that, the island itself has had intelligent planning with lots of green space. It’s so easy to get around and there’s a real community feel, you can walk to the cinema, shops and restaurants within minutes.”
