Design savvy university sweethearts secure their first home in Feature17

Hannah and Tom Case Study Feature 17

Having lived in Walthamstow for the past couple of years, first time buyers Hannah, a Project Manager, and copywriter, Tom, finally made the move away from a string of rental properties. The couple decided purchasing their first home together was the best next step for them. After carefully searching, they came across a 2 bedroom apartment at Feature 17, Countryside’s popular development in the creative London suburb of Walthamstow.

Following the pandemic, Hannah and Tom set their sights on making the long-awaited leap onto the property ladder. With a dream of being able to decorate and furnish their own home in line with their tastes, the pair were eager to the find the right property for them.

Hannah said: “We’ve always dreamt of having a place of our own, so at the end of lockdown we began looking for a sizable 2 bed with outdoor space. Shortly after, a friend of mine bought a place using Help to Buy, which encouraged us to re-evaluate our choices”

“Now we’ve reserved our dream apartment thanks to Help to Buy and we can’t wait to start designing and decorating – we’ve already chosen all our paints!”

Both 29, University sweethearts Hannah and Tom hope to soon start a family, meaning they will be able to turn their highly desired second bedroom into a nursery one day. With the spacious layouts and high spec, Hannah and Tom were also attracted to their apartment at Feature17 due to the development’s community-friendly atmosphere and its feeling of security.

“We are looking to start a family soon and can see ourselves raising children at Feature17, with its strong sense of community- exactly what we were looking for in our first home. We love the idea of raising a family near green space, there is also a huge playground here and a handy local super-market and post office, all of which combined to make us feel very at home straight away”.

Another plus point of Feature17, for the self-professed eco-conscious couple, was Countryside’s strong ESG commitments, one of which is to become net zero by 2030. Countryside targets and principles including its biodiversity strategies has been thoughtfully integrated into their building designs, including low energy lighting and electrical appliances and sophisticated and efficient heating systems, all of which were impressive components to the development for Hannah and Tom.

With both Hannah and Tom commuting into their London-based offices at least once a week and many of their friends still renting in London, proximity to transport connections was also an important consideration. Just a short walk from Wood Street train station, which offers regular trains to London Liverpool Street in 20 minutes, Feature17 was ideally suited to the couple’s lifestyle.

Feature17 has a Co-op supermarket on-site and the multi-use games area (MUGA). Along with fantastic amenities nearby, Walthamstow offers access to a range of wide-open green spaces. Located within close proximity of Hollow Pond, where residents can rent a boat and explore a lake, Feature17 caters for a range of lifestyles and interests.
