Countryside unveils future vision for St Luke’s Park

School, nursery and new shops all form part of the new neighbourhood

Countryside has brought forward the next chapter for St Luke’s Park – the new development of 575 new homes in Runwell, Essex – which will include a much-needed shop, café and community amenities for residents and locals in the area, as well as a new 210-place primary school and adjoining 56-place nursery for families.

Plans for St Luke’s Park include the refurbishment of the Grade II-Listed St Luke’s Chapel, part of the former Runwell Hospital. Dating back to 1937, the building is being developed by Gillcrest into a proposed early years day nursery. The nursery provider will be announced later this year.

Situated close to St Luke’s Chapel, the development’s village centre complex is well underway, with a Co-op store due to open this summer and a further unit available for a coffee shop / bistro expected later in the year. In total, the development will provide 2,347 m2 of non-residential space.

Alongside the Chapel and the village neighbourhood centre, a new school will support the growing St Luke’s Park community, which is currently anticipated to open in 2022/23. Countryside and Essex County Council have confirmed that a 210-place school and 56-place nursery will be developed to accommodate for the increased need for school places within the Runwell area.

Initial plans include two outdoor play areas for the nursery, sport pitches for the school as well as a library and special educational needs centre within the school.

With a new retail, commercial and education vision ahead for residents to look forward to, St Luke’s Park latest new homes include 134 new three to five-bedroom homes. This new chapter brings a fresh opportunity to live at a close and constantly evolving community. Interested buyers can expect the same high-quality specification found in earlier phases with two new house types on offer, meaning there is a home for everyone.
