Countryside supports Trust to create a ‘home from home’ for families

Countryside is supporting the Rhys Daniels Trust by furnishing a one-bedroom apartment at Aura, in Great Kneighton, recently purchased by the charity as an apartment for use by parents whose children are being treated at nearby Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
The Rhys Daniels Trust provides free ‘home from home’ accommodation at specialist children’s hospitals across the UK, which enable families to stay close to their child receiving treatment for a serious or life-threatening illness.
Aura, at Great Kneighton - a new neighbourhood by award-winning developer, Countryside - sits on the outskirts of Cambridge and just minutes from Addenbrooke’s Hospital, a leading national centre for specialist treatment in paediatrics as well as for rare or complex conditions. Countryside has fully furnished the apartment free of charge, complete with all the essentials, meaning parents are able to move straight into the property. Going forward, Countryside will be undertaking regular management of the apartment to ensure it stays in top condition for the families staying in it.
The apartment will be supplied free to families for as long as the hospital and Rhys Daniels Trust agrees they need it.
Catherine Brooking, Managing Director, Housebuilding Central, Countryside, comments: "It has been a pleasure to work with the Rhys Daniels Trust to furnish the apartment at Aura. This is an incredibly important cause and we’re delighted to have been able to do our bit in creating a welcoming ‘home from home’ for families going through difficult times."
Carolyn Daniels, Trustee, Rhys Daniels Trust, comments: "When we saw that there was no accommodation facility like ours at Addenbrooke’s we were delighted to find the Aura development nearby and to purchase one of the apartments. If a child is far from home to receive specialist treatment, the last thing their family needs is to have to find (and fund) somewhere to stay."
"At this Rhys Daniels Trust home they will have an ideal safe haven. “Countryside has been incredibly supportive, from the first day of us choosing the apartment from the plans, to furnishing it for us once it was built. We couldn’t be happier and look forward to a long future helping children and their parents at Addenbrooke’s."
