Countryside brings Christmas cheer to Yorkshire schools

With the cost of living crisis hitting many families hard this winter, our Yorkshire team wanted to help school children across the region enjoy the festive season.
From North to South Yorkshire, we supported the local schools close to two of our developments. Up in Kirkbymoorside, we made a donation to the Friends of Kirkbymoorside School, which neighbours our Manor Woods development, to help with their Christmas fair raffle.
The raffle raised over £1,200 and together with the rest of the proceeds raised from the fair, our donation will be put towards school trips and playground equipment for the children.
Angela Collier, Chair of the Friends of Kirkbymoorside School, said: "The generous support of Countryside and other businesses meant that our recent Christmas Fair was a great success; not only in terms of a fantastic evening, but also in the amount raised to benefit our children. The raffle itself raised over £1,200 which will be used to pay for trips, sporting activities, play equipment and more to enhance the children’s learning and time at school.
“Our fundraising was hit hard by the pandemic, so it was wonderful to be able to hold an event of this nature again. Donations like this one from Countryside mean that the majority of money raised can be ploughed back directly into supporting the children and the school."
At the other end of the region in Hexthorpe, Doncaster, we made a donation to Hexthorpe Primary Academy, close to our Pullman Green development, to help towards their Christmas activities.
The donation helped to fund the school’s Christmas parties, which were held on the last day of term, as well as gifts from Father Christmas for the children.
Jeni Harrison, Principal of Hexthorpe Primary Academy, said: “Thanks to the generosity of Countryside, we were able to continue our support of our families. All of our children were able to celebrate the end of term and go into the holiday after a positive celebration.”
We’re pleased to have played a small part in spreading joy this Christmas season and putting smiles on the children’s faces.
