Countryside and Sovereign put place-making at heart of new Swindon scheme

Countryside and Sovereign Housing Association are pleased to be working together on a joint-venture partnership at our exciting new housing development, King George Park, in Swindon.
Together, we will deliver up to 2,500 homes as part of the scheme which is located at Lotmead Farm, a 365-acre site near Covingham on the eastern edge of the town.
More broadly, Lotmead Farm sits within the Swindon New Eastern Villages urban extension (NEV) development area, which will consist of up to 8,000 new homes, schools, employment, leisure and supporting community facilities.
30% of the housing at King George Park will be designated as affordable and up to 400 homes will be built for private rented accommodation. King George Park will deliver a sensitively designed, quality environment within an area that already has a strong sense of identity.
The development will focus on strong place making and will include large areas of open space together with the creation of two primary schools, local centres, nurseries, retail and commercial space. The neighbourhood will also feature 1.76ha of play areas, a sports hub and pavilion, 1.76ha allotments and 62.29ha green space.
Our joint vision for the scheme builds upon the unique qualities of Lotmead Farm to create a community of regional and national standing. King George Park will become the place where the people of Swindon and beyond will aspire to.
Darren Dancey, Managing Director South West, Countryside Partnerships, said:
“We are delighted to be working with Sovereign, a housing association which understands the importance of creating vibrant communities with mixed-use facilities. Together, we look forward to delivering a distinctive, diverse and sustainable community at King George Park.”
Tom Titherington, Chief Investment and Development Officer at Sovereign Housing Association, said:
“The King George Park development fits perfectly with our strategy of working with other like-minded developers to create delightful new places where we know that the properties we provide will be fit for the future. We are proud to be bringing a range of high-quality homes to an area with growing demand for housing.”
