Countryside and Paradigm to deliver much needed affordable homes at St Michael’s Hurst, Bishops Stortford

January 2023
Leading developer Countryside and affordable-housing provider Paradigm Housing Group have formed a joint venture to deliver the latest phase of homes at St Michael’s Hurst, a village-style neighbourhood on the outskirts of Bishop’s Stortford.
The partnership will develop 208 new homes, including 125 much-needed affordable homes, with the first ones being completed in summer 2023.
A range of one and two-bedroom affordable apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses will be developed as affordable homes - 73 for affordable rent and 52 as shared ownership, to help people get a foot on the property ladder. The private homes will be a mix of three and four bedroom private homes.
Verity MacMahon, Countryside, Managing Director, Home Counties North, comments: “We’ve got a strong track record of working with a range of partners to deliver housing that truly meets the needs of the local community. We’re pleased to be working with Paradigm on the latest phase at St Michael’s Hurst to continue delivering high quality, affordable and sustainable new homes.”
Martyn Jones, Paradigm’s Executive Director for Development & Sales, said: “We’re really pleased to be jointly delivering this next phase of quality new homes at St Michael’s Hurst. Our aim is to provide more affordable homes than the original planning permission required, which should help a greater number of people as we all work through the cost-of-living crisis.”
Homes to complement modern life
Located on the outskirts of the historic and picturesque market town of Bishop’s Stortford – with its excellent transport connections, growing foodie scene and varied retail offering – homes at St Michael’s Hurst are proving particularly popular with those looking for all the fun of being close to London, with the tranquillity of life in the country.
Modern, stylish finishes sit alongside high-specification fittings and fixtures, with flooring and garden turf all included as standard, whilst a variety of internal layouts will allow adaptability for a variety of needs.
All homes at St Michael’s Hurst are surrounded by greenery, providing an attractive landscaped setting for residents. The thriving new neighbourhood is also home to the 16-acre Bat Willow Country Park – providing expansive open space for all to enjoy. #Ends
