Rochester Riverside is a 50-acre brownfield regeneration scheme previously cleared and remediated under the ownership of Medway Council and Homes England.

Countryside in a Joint Venture partnership with Hyde Housing were selected in 2016 to create a new landmark destination for Medway. When complete Rochester Riverside will transform the local community, providing 1,400 homes, 1200sqft of commercial space and extensive green open space including new parks and river walkway. The development will also include a nursery, primary school and 81-bedroom Travelodge Hotel.

Countryside have a strong commitment to meeting local labour targets, at Rochester Riverside we are achieving a mean local labour percentage of 61%, well exceeding the target of 20%. We focus on quality training for our partners community, especially with regard to apprenticeships and training on site.

Countryside have also recently signed an Armed Forces Covenant with a pledge to double Armed Forces employees in the next five years. One of the first schemes that the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) visited was Rochester Riverside, as we facilitated a site visit for RSME students as part of their training programmes.

In 2020 Rochester Riverside won the coveted Winners of Winner Award at the Housing Design Awards. Launched in 1948 the awards champion skill and innovation in Housebuilding and Planning.
